The UK Government has begun the search for a new Chair of the Sustainable Development Commission

The SDC works across Government at the UK level and in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as an independent advisor, advocate and scrutineer. The current Chair, Jonathon Porritt, will step down in July 2009 after a successful decade leading the SDC and we are now seeking an exceptional individual to build on this foundation and take it into the future.

This role, appointed by the Prime Minister, calls for someone with a passion for sustainable development and its implementation. He/she will have a strong track record of leadership, personal credibility in this field and the right communication skills to inspire and influence others to contribute to a sustainable future. Since it was established in 2000 the Commission has established strong relationships with Government departments, Devolved Administrations and wider society and has successfully influenced Government policy.
